How to Get Creative When All You Have Is a Tiny Bathroom
At this day and age, not everyone owns a spacious bathroom. More often, the small space in your family bathroom can’t keep up with all the toiletries of every member of the family. In one corner you will find your sister’s make-up while on the other shelf you will see your brother’s shaving cream. Not to mention your mom and dad’s personal effects like combs, brushers, tweezers, blow dryer and shave.
All these things inside such a limited space can really make a very big visual mess. The bathroom should be a place where you can relax and enjoy your daily rituals. But, how can you concentrate when all that you see is clutter everywhere.
One good start is to set up some shelves. In case there are no built in shelves, you can buy a few shelves in hardware stores or home decor shops. But, choose designs that are sturdy and minimalistic. Another good idea would be to buy small boxes for personal effects. Choose colors that correspond to each family member. In organizing, you can put all the feminine products into one box and the boy’s personal toiletries on another. This will keep all the clutter in check and add a few aesthetics to the bathroom.
If you like to sit down inside the bathroom and just contemplate on things, you can store a small stool inside the small space below the sink. Usually, this space is just enough for small items. But, this depends on the design of your toilet.
Placing hooks behind the door or in the walls is also a great way to organize your robes and towels. By using hooks, you no longer have to throw down your used clothes on the floor. An alternative is a small laundry basket.
Common items in the bathroom can be places in a small basket on top of the tank. This will make sure that everyone has easy access to shampoos and other toiletries that they may need when bathing.
If you want to experiment, you can try rolling up a few towels and neatly placing them in a hanging basket. This will give you the feel of a hotel. If you are more of a Zen or oriental type, you can try placing a few ornaments such as bamboo inside the toilet. By adding a few small things here and there, you will never have to contend with a boring toilet ever again.
